General info
The Jack Laffan Show is a DIY indie rock, singer/songwriter act. The record was written, performed and produced out of a Brooklyn apartment. The songs range from the Velvet Underground-esque '68 Jay Street Bar' and 'So... You Got a New Home?' to the Smiths/Belle and Sebastian-like 'I'm a Genius' and 'Lying Awake'.
The instrumentation is primarily voice, guitar and percussion. It's homemade sound is unique and inventive. The most dominant element is the voice - expansive in range and vocabulary. Agile guitar playing, layered percussion, and production flourishes flesh things out and make for a multi-dimensional recording. Live, The JLS is a solo-acoustic act.
